  1. My husband & I are moving to Datil toward the end of the summer and wanted to introduce ourselves. I've enjoyed reading the posts and hope to see more soon!

  2. That's great! I will be posting more soon... I have lived here for 6 months now and I love it more and more! Where are you moving from? Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions about the area: page2film@yahoo.com

  3. Just found your blog. We live in Santa Fe but own some land with a casita on it (no water or electricity, just the house) on the outskirts of Magdalena. My husband would love to move down there someday. We're coming down for a visit next week, but home will remain Santa Fe for a while yet.

How are you adjusting to life in Datil? Is the old "White House" that used to belong to the Morley family still there? I just finished Agnes Cleaveland's No Life for a Lady (wonderful book!!!) and was curious.

  4. Hi Brigitte!

Thanks for the message... I have been wanting to read that book for a LONG time! The white house is long gone, but you can still see some remnants of its foundation. I LOVE it here. I can't imagine living in a crowded city again!

Where will you be staying when you're in town? If you're ever in Datil, feel free to stop by-- I'm at the Mojave Academy, a private boarding school on Forest Road 6.

    :)

  5. I live in Magdalena, and have been reading No Life for a Lady, and the biography about Agnes Morley Cleaveland, Open Range. They are fantastic books, and I'm enthralled with the history of the area! I was hoping to find the remains of the foundation of the original White House site. Any chance you can describe how to find it? I'm assuming it's near White House Springs? Thanks so much for your time!
